Dr. Soejima published one original article (Swallowing-related muscle inflammation and fibrosis induced by a single dose of radiation exposure in mice).

Four lab members attended the 101st Annual Meeting of the Physiological Society of Japan @ Kitakyushu.

Dr. Umene, thank you for your excellent presentation. The symposium "Physiology learned from Fish" which Inoue organized was a great success, and we would like to thank everyone who attended. I would also like to thank Prof. Atsuko Yamaguchi, Nagasaki University Faculty of Fisheries, Prof. Susumu Hyodo, University of Tokyo Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, Ms. Emma Hinako Moritoshi, Kagoshima University Graduate School of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Prof. Shiro Itoi, Nihon University for their lectures. It was a great learning experience for us to participate in the conference.

This was Peter's last day at our lab after being with us for a year and a half. We wish him continued success in the future!
Dr. Umene received his Ph. D. today. This is the first Ph.D. degree since Inoue moved to Nagasaki. Moreover, he was able to graduate early in 3 years. Congratulations!
2023/10/21
On October 20-21, 2023, we participated in the 74th Annual Meeting of the Physiology Society of Western Japan (@Fukuoka). We presented 6 abstracts from our laboratory this time. Mr. Hashimoto presented in the undergraduate student session, Dr. Wu, Dr. Soejima, Dr. Yang, and Dr. Matsuo presented in the general oral session, and Mr. Peter, who presented in the Award candidate oral session, received the Award. Congratulations!

Prof. Chih-Kang Chiang of National Taiwan University gave a lecture titled "The Roles of ER Stress on AKI to CKD transition: Emphasize on Adaptive UPRs". We learned a lot from the lecture.

We received a great gift from Dr. Wakako Arakaki of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, University of the Ryukyus. Dr. Arakaki stayed in our laboratory for two months, successfully completed the analysis of a huge number of samples, and returned to Okinawa. Thank you very much for the gift and your hard work.

Dr. Nakamura published one original article (Alpha 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors signaling boosts cell-cell interactions in macrophages effecting anti-inflammatory and organ protection).

Dr. Umene published one original article (Induction of tetraspanin 13 contributes to the synergistic anti-inflammatory effects of parasympathetic and sympathetic stimulation in macrophages).

October 28 and 29, 2022 at Nagasaki University School of Medicine Memorial Auditorium, together with the Department of Neurobiology and Behaivor and the Department of Oral Chrono-Physiology at our university, we hosted the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Physiology Society of Western Japan. In addition, Dr. Chia-hsien Wu received the Award at this meeting. Congratulations!

On October 7 and 8, 2022, we held AMED Adaptation and Repair Area FY2022 Young Scientists' Meeting at Dejima Messe Nagasaki. Many researchers participated in the conference, and it was a very fruitful meeting. Thank you very much for your participation.
